Prof. Christopher Clohessy in Iran

Prof. Christopher Clohessy spent five days in Iran, from 1st to 5th October, as a guest of the Shahid Motahari University in Tehran. The reason for the visit was chiefly as a co-moderator, together with Prof. Rasoul Rasoulipour of the Kharazmi University, also in Tehran, for the defence of a doctoral dissertation entitled ‘Redemptive Suffering in Catholicism and ithnā ‘asharī Shī’īsm: An Analytical Study of Mahmoud Ayoub’s Theory’. The doctoral candidate, Mohammadmahdi Keshavarz Moravveji, was awarded his doctorate by the Shahid Motahari University with the mention of summa cum laude.
Professor Clohessy was also invited to address the faculty and students of the university, and after a meeting with the head of the university, Ayatollah Emami Kashani, was invited to a roundtable discussion with a group of students. During a visit to Qum, Professor Clohessy addressed the faculty of the University of Religions and Denominations, and he was hosted as a guest at the shrine of Fāṭima al-Maʿṣūma, daughter of the seventh Imām, al-Kāẓim and sister of the eighth Imām, al-Riḍā.
